MOVING FORWARD WITHOUT A FACILITY
We recently announced our decision not to acquire an additional facility at this time. As indicated in a recent article [by the Saint Peter Herald] we had expressed interest in acquiring the Scholarship America building and had been approved for financing. However, after careful consideration, we decided to step away from the deal to focus instead on the sequential launch of new programs and services to support neurodivergent children and their families with a different approach. As leaders, we had to make a tough decision to put the interests of the children and families we serve first. A ‘Neighborhood of Care’ is what we aim to bring to the Saint Peter community, however, after a thorough strategic analysis we determined programming would likely be delayed if we were to invest in a facility of such magnitude at this point in time.
According to our Executive Director, Jenny Kortuem, "Our journey has provided us with the assurance that our broader vision aligns with the needs of our community. We are grateful for the outstanding support that we have received from various sources, including our team at GO Therapy, community members, the City of Saint Peter, the Saint Peter Economic Development Authority (EDA), Mayor Shanon Nowell, Paul Tanis, Pioneer Bank, and many others. We've also gained a deeper appreciation for the outstanding regional, state, and national programs that aid in business growth and financing, such as Region Nine and the SBDC. By prioritizing program development over facility acquisition, this enables us to expedite progress. We're maintaining our momentum."
Our team extends a sincere thank you to all who have generously donated, demonstrating unwavering support for children and families within our community. We want to assure donors that TGC remains committed to its mission, and we remain optimistic that the ideal opportunity for a larger physical space will eventually present itself. However, in the meantime, we will adopt a different approach to expand our services. For now, TGC will continue program development and service delivery with a focus on parent and provider education along with crafting opportunities for support and connection. We will also engage in intentional capacity building to address this region’s critical shortage and access to quality childcare. Meanwhile, our sister business, GO Therapy, is actively working to expand services in the coming year to include youth autism programming, and eventually, mental health therapy.
